ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): An interesting situation developed in the joint session of Parliament on Tuesday when Alia Kamran, wife of JUI Senator Kamran Murtaza, sat on his husband’s designated seat and refused to give it back to him.

During the joint session of the Parliament, when National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq asked to turn on the mike of JUI Senator Kamran Murtaza, he was not found present at his designated seat, rather his wife Alia Kamran was sitting in his place.

The Speaker also noted that she was not giving her husband the seat. Alia Kamran, rather confirmed to the speaker, “Sir, I am sitting.”

Upon this, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq jokingly sought help from JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on this ‘Sharia issue’.

Ayaz Sadiq said Maulana Sahib, this has become a big Sharia issue, please tell us about it, there will be further discussion on this in the House.

Meanwhile, as Alia Kamran started to get up from the seat, the Speaker asked her to remain seated, and the Speaker ordered to open the mic at Kamran Murtaza’s seat.

Meanwhile, Kamran Murtaza also did not remain silent and told the Speaker, “Sir, please see, assess my condition in the joint session.” The House erupted in laughter at Kamran Murtaza’s helplessness.

Parliament passes bill

It should be noted that a bill regarding the establishment of a minority commission was passed in the joint session of the Parliament, against which the opposition strongly protested, while PPP Senator Abdul Qadir Patel also opposed the bill.
