ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Google plans to launch its visual redesign for Android 17, which will use a heavy blur effect together with transparent elements to create modern visual depth for the operating system.
The internal build screenshots leaked by RKBDI on X and analyzed by 9to5Google show that various system components will change to a semi-transparent frosted glass design, which will replace the solid backgrounds that existed in earlier versions.
The volume slider, power menu, and Quick Settings panel now display wallpaper or app content through their interfaces, while users can read the interface details because of the subtle blur effects.
The new design resembles Apple’s Liquid Glass interface from iOS 26, while Google has developed a more understated design that eliminates the performance problems and contrast challenges that existed with early iOS systems.
According to NotebookCheck, the system uses dynamic blur, which changes according to each user’s selected color theme to maintain visual consistency throughout the operating system. Android 17 brings visual enhancements together with new functional features, which include an updated screen recorder and various small interface improvements that follow the Material 3 Expressive design system established in Android 16.
When will Android 17 be released?
Google has not provided a specific release date for Android 17, but the operating system will probably become available to users during mid-2026, which will probably occur between Google I/O and late June.
The Pixel devices from Pixel 6 to Pixel 10 will receive the update first, while other Android manufacturers, including Samsung, will start their updates in late 2026 or early 2027.
The blur-based transparent design of Android 17 creates its most significant visual transformation since previous updates because it presents a modern visual style that people can use during their everyday work activities.
