CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): WhatsApp’s latest update has simplified calling for better user experience in both individual and group chats.
The new feature has simplified the process initiating voice and video calls. The new call menu is now being rolled out to a select group of beta testers. The menu is available for download through the Google Play Store.
The new feature has replaced the previous two separate buttons used for video and voice calls with one single button at the top of group and individual chat boxes.
In one-on-one conversations, the button displays a voice call icon, but tapping it opens a menu where users can choose between a video or voice call.
WhatsApp new features
Streamlining the process, the new feature makes it easier for users to select the type of call they want to make without having to switch between several buttons.
WhatsApp’s new feature, in addition to simplifying call options, also allows users to select specific members of a group to call, rather than automatically calling all group members.
The update will prove especially useful in group chats, where users may not want to contact every member of a large group, but instead, call only the ones they want to.
Another feature of the update is making the user enable to create and share call links directly from the new call menu.
Users can now quickly generate a link to a call and share it with others, inviting them to join without sending out individual invitations or manually entering phone numbers.
These updates are part of the social media app’s continuing efforts to improve communication within its app, making it more efficient and user-friendly for both group and individual chats.
It is to mention here that the new features are still in the testing phase for some users but they are expected to be rolled out to a wider audience soon.
This new feature is expected to improve the overall calling experience on WhatsApp, providing greater flexibility and ease of use for millions of people who rely on the app for both professional and personal communication.
Earlier, WhatsApp launched a highly-anticipated feature that helps users convert voice messages into text.
