MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The region of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is very much likely to experience a spell of rain and snow as a fresh Western disturbance, currently developing over Afghanistan, moves towards the region by February 20, according to the media reports.
The meteorological system is expected to bring widespread precipitation across the Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the report said.
According to the weather predictions, the upper reaches of the region will be the first to witness the effects, with precipitation starting late on the night of February 19 (Wednesday).
The intensity of rain and snow is likely to increase as it spreads across the region.
AJK weather
Most areas are likely to experience a moderate spell of rain or snow, with some parts potentially receiving heavy precipitation, the report suggests.
Weather conditions are likely to improve from Friday onwards, providing relief after the anticipated disturbance, the report added.
Furthermore, rain and snowfall is expected in various parts of Pakistan from today (Feb 18).
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) on Monday issued a weather advisory forecasting rain, wind, snow, and thunderstorms in various regions of the country.
“Rain and snowfall are expected in Pothohar Region, including Murree and Galliyat, Upper and Northeastern Punjab, and Islamabad from February 19 to 21,” the advisory said.
It further said that the Northern and Northwestern Balochistan may experience rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall from February 18 to 20.
Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is also likely to witness similar conditions from February 18 to 20, while Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir will have cloudy weather with rain, wind, and snowfall on February 19 and 20.
Sindh, however, will remain mostly cold and dry. Cold and dry weather will prevail across most parts of the country from February 21 to 22.
