Weather Alert: Heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds expected in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The residents of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are set to witness more heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and hailstorms, according to the latest weather predictions.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain with thunderstorms is expected in Islamabad, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region, Punjab, and some parts of Balochistan today, while heavy rain or hail may also occur at some places.

On the other hand, the sun is not showing any sign of abating in Sindh and Balochistan. The intense heat has made the citizens restless, especially in the plains, where the temperature has increased to dangerous levels.

According to the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature recorded in the last 24 hours was 50 degrees Celsius in Jacobabad, while Sibi recorded 49, Dadu, Mohenjodaro, Rohri, Larkana, Nawabshah 47, Sukkur 46, Hyderabad 45, Multan 44, Lahore and Faisalabad 41, Quetta and Peshawar 38, Karachi 37, Gilgit 36, Islamabad 35 and Muzaffarabad recorded 33 degrees Celsius.

According to meteorologists, extremely hot and dry weather will continue in most districts of Sindh today, while dusty winds are likely to blow in coastal areas including Karachi, in the afternoon. The intensity of the heat is being felt more due to the high humidity in the air.

The public has been instructed to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun, stay hydrated, and be aware of the weather conditions.
