Khalid Hafeez
In January, Khalid Hafeez, known for the PTV’s 1991 sitcom Guest House, passed away in Islamabad.
The state broadcaster confirmed the news of the actor’s passing while his former co-star Afzal Khan — known popularly as Jan Rambo — also posted about his death.
Khalid played the role of Mr. Shamim, the well-meaning but stingy owner of the titular guest house in the 1991 drama. He starred alongside Sarwat Ateeq, who played Shamim’s spendthrift wife Raheela, and Afzal, whose breakout performance as John Rambo the janitor earned him praise and a stage name.
The late actor also played the role of an officer in the PTV docu-drama Nishan-i-Haider: Captain Mohammad Sarwar Shaheed in 1980, based on the life of the first recipient of Pakistan’s highest honour for wartime gallantry.
