NEW YORK (Kashmir English): The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has adopted a resolution against Iran’s attacks on neighboring countries and has condemned the attacks.
The draft prepared by the Gulf countries received 13 votes in favor. China and Russia were absent from the resolution condemning Iran’s attacks. Pakistan voted in favor of the draft resolution against Iran on behalf of the Gulf countries.
The Bahraini delegate said that the resolution condemning the Iranian attacks was co-sponsored by 135 countries, and Pakistan was also a co-sponsor of the draft resolution against Iran on behalf of the Gulf countries.
This was the first time in the history of the United Nations that a resolution was presented by 135 co-sponsors. Earlier, a resolution on Ebola was presented by 134 countries in the United Nations.
Pakistani Ambassador to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar said that Pakistan also condemned the American and Israeli attacks on Iran.
The Pakistani delegate said that 2 Pakistanis were killed in Iranian attacks on the UAE, and the attacks on Iran have put world peace at risk.
Asim Iftikhar said that Pakistan supports Iran’s sovereignty, millions of Pakistanis are trapped in Gulf countries, and disputes should be resolved through negotiations and diplomacy.
Asim Iftikhar said that a country has no right to dictate to neighboring countries in the region.
Emirati delegate Abu Shahab said that the Security Council should take effective and decisive action against Iran. Iranian attacks are a serious threat to international peace and security, and Iran’s attacks are an attempt to spread terror.
The Emirati delegate said that Iranian attacks are being fought resolutely, and Gulf countries have shown patience and mutual unity.
