MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (UAJK) Muzaffarabad, and the University of Poonch Rawalakot on Monday announced several holidays amid the prevailing harsh weather conditions.
According to the notification issued by UAJK, the university will be closed for five days, from August 19 to August 23, 2025.
“All academic and administrative activities at the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir shall remain suspended from 19th to 23rd August 2023,” the notification added.
However, it further added that “the university’s administrative offices will remain functional as per routine.”
Similarly, the University of Poonch in Rawalakot will remain closed for two days, on August 19 and August 20, in view of the prevailing severe weather conditions, according to the official notification.
It stated that the holidays have been announced, considering the safety of students, faculty, and staff. The notification urged students and staff to stay away from campuses during this period.
Earlier, the Azad Kashmir education department also declared five-day school holidays across the region from August 19 to August 23, 2025.
The holidays have been granted due to the persistent heavy rainfall across Azad Kashmir, which may cause potential flash floods and landslides, the notification reads.
