WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): The United States, giving Pakistan a concession compared to India, has imposed a 19% tariff.
According to the White House, the Trump administration has imposed a 19% retaliatory tariff on Pakistani products, while a 25% tariff has been imposed on India and a 20% tariff on Bangladesh.
Pakistan has been given the highest concession among the three major countries in South Asia.
According to the White House, a 30% tariff has been imposed on South Africa and a 39% tariff on Switzerland, while a 15% tariff has been imposed on Israel, America’s closest ally in the Middle East.
In addition, due to differences in policies, the US has increased the tariff on Canada to 35%.
It should be noted that a trade agreement between Pakistan and the US was successfully concluded yesterday.
Pakistan and the United States have officially signed a major trade agreement aimed at boosting economic ties between the two countries.
The deal focuses on increasing trade, improving market access, attracting foreign investment, and enhancing cooperation in key economic areas.
The Ministry of Finance confirmed that the agreement was finalized during a meeting between Pakistan’s Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.
US Trade Representative Jamison Greer, Pakistan’s Secretary of Commerce Jawad Paul, and Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh also participated in the discussions.
The announcement was made by US President Donald Trump on his social media platform, Truth Social, where he highlighted the importance of stronger relations with Pakistan.
