Ulemas reject Maulana Fazlur Rehman stance, reaffirms support for Pakistan army

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Muttahida Madaris Council Pakistan has clarified that religious madrasahs, religious federations and education boards have no connection with any derogatory or negative statements regarding the Pakistan Army and martyrs, rejecting the stance of Fazlur Rehman.

In a post on the social media platform Facebook, Muttahida Madaris Council Pakistan stated that ‘We pay tribute to the great sacrifices of the martyrs and reiterate our unwavering commitment to national unity, peace and stability’.

MMCP President said that Pakistan’s religious institutions have always stood for peace, moderation, national unity and stability. He emphasized that any remarks targeting the armed forces or martyrs do not represent the policy or viewpoint of the council or its affiliated institutions.

The council paid tribute to the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan’s armed forces and martyrs, stating that their services for the defense, security and stability of the country are unforgettable and deserve the highest respect.

The statement further said that religious seminaries reject all forms of extremism, disorder and activities aimed at creating divisions within society. The council reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s ideological and geographical integrity while promoting harmony and national cohesion.

MMCP also warned that if any individual or institution affiliated with the council is found to be involved in making such statements, action will be taken in accordance with the council’s constitution and regulations.
