MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) administration has threatened legal action against the students, who staged a peaceful protest on Wednesday (today) over fee-related issues.

During the exam today, the UAJK’s City Campus students protested after the university administration barred them from taking exams. Students expressed their frustration over the unfair treatment by the university administration.

According to the protestors, a ninth semester student was expelled from the ongoing exam over a mere Rs 100 fee. They argued that this was not an isolated incident, claiming that two students had faced similar treatment the previous day.

While talking to the media, the students alleged that such actions have become a daily routine by the university administration, which displays their incompetence. They have been publicly humiliated and thrown out of the classroom over petty dues.

The students expressed their anger and tried to register their protest but faced a harsh response from the university’s vice-chancellor. According to the students, instead of resolving their issues, the vice-chancellor warned them that he would call the police if they failed to pay their dues.

As the students staged a protest during the examination process, the university administration strictly made it clear that any attempt to disrupt the examination discipline will not be tolerated.

“Today, a few law students at the City Campus tried to disrupt the examination process, which included closing the main gate and undue interference in the examinations. The university administration took immediate steps to restore the academic environment and the examination process continued,” the university spokesperson said.

The UAJK admin said that some students adopted inappropriate behavior over the issue of non-payment of fees and tried to disrupt the examination environment, which is a clear violation of university regulations. “As per the rules, all students are required to clear their dues to appear in the examinations, and no special concession can be given to any student,” the UAJK spokesperson added.

The UAJK administration further advised students to approach the concerned offices instead of disrupting the academic environment so that their issues can be resolved appropriately.

“The university will not tolerate any disorderly or illegal activity and stricter measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future,” he said.
