NEELUM (Kashmir English): In tragic incidents, two young boys drowned in Neelum Valley at two separate locations on Thursday, district authorities said.
A 22-year-old youth, Shahzad Manzoor, from Sheikh Bela, drowned in the Neelum River, while a 10-year-old boy, Hassan, son of Fateh, drowned in the Jagran Nullah.
Rescue 1122 Unit Sharda and the rescue team from Aathmaqam Jagran reached the scene and conducted search operations to recover the bodies of the drowned individuals. However, the fast-flowing water in the Neelum River and Jagran Nallah has made the rescue efforts challenging.
As per details, the expert divers will arrive from Muzaffarabad tomorrow at 9 am with additional equipment and will conduct a thorough search operation.
It is worth noting that the Deputy Commissioner/Chairman DDMA Neelum has imposed Section 144, prohibiting people from going near the Neelum River and all the Nallahs, and taking bathing and swimming.
The local administration has been informing the people of the Neelum area and tourists through social media to stay away from the Neelum River to prevent such incidents.
