WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): United States President Donald Trump announced that he would impose a 35 percent import tax on products imported from Canada.

In a statement released on social media, President Trump said that starting August 1, 2025, a 35 percent tax will be imposed on products coming from Canada to the United States, which will be independent of all sectoral tariffs.

According to a report by the American news channel, President Trump, while talking to Meet the Press host Kirsten Walker, said that all the remaining countries with which trade agreements have not yet been signed or have not received a trade letter are also going to impose a general tax rate.

President Trump said that we are just going to say that all the remaining countries will also have to pay taxes, whether it is 20 percent or 15 percent. We will work on it now.

It should be noted that this week, President Trump has sent letters to more than 20 countries informing them that if they are unable to reach a trade agreement by August 1, tariffs will be imposed on their products at set rates.
