Canada qualifies for Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with win over Bahamas

ONTARIO, Canada (Kashmir English): Canada became the latest nation to secure a place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after thrashing the Bahamas by 10 wickets in the Americas Qualifier at the Maple Leaf North-West Ground on Saturday.

The side maintained unbeaten run in Americas Qualifier and joined the 13 other teams for India-Sri Lanka event next year.

Canada, the hosts, won all the five games to maintain their unbeaten record in the Qualifiers. They won the fifth match comfortably, chasing down a paltry target of 58 in just 5.3 overs.

India, Sri Lanka to jointly host T20 World Cup

The outcome confirmed Canada’s qualification for the international tournament to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka in 2026.

Saturday’s win ensured Canada’s participation in the expanded 20-team T20 World Cup, joining automatic qualifiers Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, England, Australia, Ireland, Afghanistan, New Zealand, South Africa, the United States, and the West Indies.

The remaining seven slots will be filled through regional qualification tournaments: two from Europe (5–11 July 2025), two from Africa (19 September–4 October 2025), and three from the Asia-East Asia Pacific Qualifier (1–17 October 2025).
