NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): A tragic car accident in Neelum Valley has claimed the lives of six people, including five women and the driver, while one child remains missing. The incident occurred near Chilhana, at the entrance of Neelum Valley, late Thursday night.
According to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Neelum, the vehicle was carrying seven passengers, including a child, when it veered off the road under unknown circumstances. The car plunged into a deep ravine, resulting in the deaths of six individuals on the spot. The bodies have since been recovered by local rescue teams.
The missing child, believed to have been thrown from the vehicle during the crash, is still being searched for by rescue officials and local volunteers. The harsh terrain of Neelum Valley is making the search efforts more difficult.
Police sources confirmed that all the victims were residents of Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir. Authorities have contacted the families of the deceased and are facilitating the transport of the bodies for funeral arrangements.
Neelum Valley is a popular tourist and residential area known for its beauty but also infamous for its dangerous mountain roads, where accidents are not uncommon. This latest tragedy highlights the urgent need for better road safety measures in the region.
