DERA ISMAILKHAN (Kashmir English): In a tragic incident, the Fitna-ul-Khawarij terrorists targeted a police mobile van in the limits of Paniala police station in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing three policemen.
According to officials, the blast was carried out using an improvised explosive device (IED), which severely damaged the police van and spread panic in the nearby area. According to police, the martyrs included ASI Gul Alam, Constable Rafiq, and driver Sakhi Jan, who died on the spot.
Immediately after the incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot and cordoned off the area, and a search operation was launched to trace the accused.
Initial reports said that the police van was on a routine patrol when the explosives exploded, causing severe damage to the vehicle. Security officials said that, considering the nature of the blast and the local geography, it is likely that the attack was carried out using a pre-planted IED.
Police officials have issued strict instructions to the Paniala police station and adjoining police stations to closely monitor people coming and going on internal and external routes.
Several checkpoints have been set up in the area, while the public has been asked to immediately report suspicious activities.
