RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): SSP Poonch Riaz Mughal has said that the terrorists were planning for a big terrorist activity before the police neutralized them in an encounter in Rawalakot.

He said they had information that the terrorists were hiding in a cave in Hussain Kot, upon which the action was taken.

During a late-night press briefing in Rawalakot, SSP Poonch stated that the police, under the supervision of SSP Poonch and DSP Headquarters, raided a terrorist hideout in Hussain Kot, an area on the outskirts of Rawalakot.

The police, in a joint operation with SSG commandos, cordoned off the area, which was a difficult terrain.

“When the police surrounded the terrorist hideouts from all sides, a terrorist named Jibran threw a hand grenade, injuring a police officer and an accused.”

He said that after that, there was an exchange of fire from both sides, in which all four terrorists were killed, while two police officers were martyred and 20 were injured. He said the injured were shifted to the hospital.

SSP Poonch said that the leader of the terrorists, Zarnosh Naseem, was wanted in the murder case of Sajjad Resham, and these same accused were also wanted for firing on the police.

He said that they belonged to Tehreek-i-Taliban Kashmir (TTK), adding this group is working under an organized conspiracy, with Dr. Rauf & Company, based in Afghanistan, behind it.

Terrorists belong to Bagh district

It is worth noting that among the killed terrorists are two real brothers, Zarnosh Naseem and Jibran Naseem, who belong to Ghaniabad area of Bagh district, while the identity of two terrorists has not yet been confirmed.

The police and law enforcement agencies had been after them for some months, and even the parents of the killed accused had appealed to them in a video statement to surrender to the police, but they did not desist and met their fate.
