PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): The security forces on Friday successfully thwarted terrorist attacks at police stations and checkpoints in Peshawar, Bannu, and Hangu.
During the attacks, terrorists threw hand grenades and opened fire, but they were forced to flee due to the police’s strong retaliatory action.
According to sources, terrorists launched a hand grenade attack on the Badaber police station in Peshawar, resulting in one officer being injured.
Similarly, an attack was carried out on the Matani Sar Khwara police checkpoint, where a total of seven individuals, including one police officer, were injured.
According to the police, a jirga was ongoing at the said checkpoint when the attack occurred. All injured individuals were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where they are receiving medical aid.
On the other hand, according to Bannu police, terrorists attacked the Kashu Pul police checkpoint, but the attack was foiled due to effective retaliatory firing by the police.
Similarly, firing also occurred at the Kangar police checkpoint, after which the terrorists fled the scene.
District Police Officer
District Police Officer Yasir Afridi stated that an emergency has been declared in Bannu city in view of the security situation, and police personnel have been deployed at all major highways and intersections to deal with any potential threat.
Meanwhile, police checkpoints have been established at all entry points of Kohat city, and security has been further tightened.
According to Hangu police, firing occurred at a police check post in the Qazi Talab area of Hangu, which was repelled by effective retaliatory action by the police. After the attack, the terrorists managed to escape from the scene.
