JAMMU (Kashmir English): The President of Indian National Congress occupied Jammu and Kashmir chapter, Tariq Hameed Karra, has urged the Indian government to restore the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir without any further delay.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Tariq Hameed Karra addressing a party function in Jammu said Congress Party is an instrument of service to the people, which has remained dedicated to the cause of serving the people.
He said the Congress party is duty bound to address the aspirations of the people. He said the Congress party believes in strengthening the people and is committed to equitable development of the territory.
He described Bharatiya Janata Party dispensation as anti-poor, anti-youth, anti-Kissan and due to its wrong policies the sufferings of the people increased manifold.
Kashmir status
On 5 August 2019, the government of India unilaterally revoked the special status, or autonomy, granted under Article 370 of the Indian constitution to Jammu and Kashmir—a region illegally occupied by India.
