COLOMBO (Kashmir English): India beat Pakistan by a huge margin of 61 runs in the much-hyped T20 World Cup match here on Sunday.
Pakistan chase began poorly with the loss of four early wickets, including Babar Azam (5), Saim Ayub (6), and Salman Ali Agha (4).
Pakistan’s batting struggled significantly, slipping to 34-4 while chasing a 176-run target. Early breakthrough by Jasprit Bumrah crippled the chase.
Pakistan were all out for 114 in 18 overs, losing the game by 61 runs.
Earlier, India set a target of 176 runs for Pakistan after finishing their innings at 175 for 7 in allotted 20 overs.
Ishan Kishan remained the top scorer with a brilliant 77 off 40 balls (including 10 fours and 3 sixes) before being dismissed by Saim Ayub.
India had a rocky start, losing opening batsman Abhishek Sharma for a four-ball duck. However, Kishan, along with contributions from middle-order batters like Tilak Varma, helped stabilise the innings after the early wicket.
For Pakistan, Saim Ayub was the standout bowler, playing a key role in halting India’s momentum in the middle overs.
