DUBAI (Kashmir English): The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday announced the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament, with Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan making it to the top performers.
Sahibzada Farhan made it to the top of the order for his standout performance, finishing the tournament as the top scorer with an aggregate of 383. He scored two centuries against Sri Lanka and Namibia with an average of 76.60.
His tally of 383 runs set a new record for the most runs by a batter in a single edition of the T20 World Cup. He also made a record by becoming the first player to score two centuries in one T20 World Cup.
Moreover, the team of the tournament also includes four players from India, two each from England and South Africa, and one each from Zimbabwe and the West Indies.
The T20 World Cup team does not include any player from the finalist New Zealand, while Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah are included from the event-winning Indian team.
England’s Will Jacks and Adil Rashid, South Africa’s Langi Ngidi and Markram, Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzzarabani, and West Indies’ Jason Holder are included in the team. American Shadley van Schalkwyk has been added to the team as the 12th player.
Apart from Shahibzada Farhan, Player of the Tournament Sanju Samson has been inducted into the team for the opening slot for his 321 runs feat to lead the winning quartet.
Samson shone with Player of the Match performances against the West Indies and England before making the highest individual score in a Men’s T20 World Cup final with 89 against New Zealand on Sunday.
He is joined by teammates Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah as India’s impressive victory on home soil is recognised. “Kishan hit 317 runs as his performances across the top of the order anchored India’s batting performances with a huge strike rate of 193.29,” the ICC said.
“Hardik Pandya is the third Indian batter included, with the all-rounder recognised for his contribution with bat and ball. Pandya scored two half-centuries with the bat and produced devastating spells when it mattered, including 52 off 28 against Namibia, while he also took nine wickets in all.”
Bumrah is the fourth Indian player in the team, with the Player of the Match in the final recognised for his excellent bowling performances. He finished as the tournament’s joint-leading wicket taker, with 14 from eight matches.
