RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Rawalakot authorities carried out a strict operation this week as part of their continued efforts towards the enforcement of traffic laws. Assistant Commissioner Rawalakot, Sardar Mushtaq Ahmed, led the operation along with Motor Vehicle Examiner Muhammad Zeeshan, TSI Kazim Hussain Shah, Sajad Ali Khan, and police personnel.
The team conducted the operation at Petrol Gas Chowk, where four vehicles and several motorcycles were seized. These were being driven by underage individuals, violating the minimum legal driving age. In addition to seizing vehicles, fines were issued on the spot to motorcycle riders who were found without helmets.
As part of the enforcement of traffic laws, legal action was also taken against vehicle owners who failed to produce valid documents. Furthermore, a crackdown on vehicles using tinted windows was also initiated, in accordance with road safety regulations.
Speaking at the scene, Assistant Commissioner Sardar Mushtaq Ahmed urged parents to cooperate with the administration by not allowing children under the age of 18 to ride motorcycles. He stressed the importance of protecting young lives and called for greater public responsibility in ensuring road safety.
He added that the administration is fully committed to the enforcement of traffic laws and that no one would be allowed to violate traffic regulations without facing consequences. “Strict implementation of traffic laws is not only necessary for maintaining order but also for preventing tragic accidents that can result from reckless driving or negligence,” he said.
The operation is part of a broader campaign in the region to promote road safety and awareness. Officials reiterated that such enforcement actions will continue until full compliance with traffic regulations is achieved across the district.
This recent operation is seen as a significant step towards the enforcement of traffic laws in Rawalakot, aiming to discourage underage driving, promote the use of helmets, and eliminate unlawful vehicle modifications like tinted windows.
As the authorities continue their efforts, the public is being reminded of the collective responsibility of ensuring the safety of all road users and contributing to the enforcement of traffic laws in the region.
