NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): In a disturbing incident, several stray dogs have attacked around 20-25 children and adults near the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Athmuqam in Neelum Valley.
The attack, which happened early Monday morning, has raised concerns about public safety and the presence of stray dogs in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, stray dogs suddenly attacked people, including school-going children. When the injured were brought to the hospital, no medical staff were initially present, exacerbating the situation.
Following the incident, an emergency was imposed in the hospital on the instructions of MS Sajjad Mughal, while the Vice Chairman of the Municipal Committee, Wajid Nooran, and police also reached the spot.
Earlier, an important meeting was held in the Athmuqam municipality, in which approval was given to mass poison the stray dogs to eliminate them. The public has demanded that the Deputy Commissioner and SP Neelum take immediate notice of the incident and take effective measures.
The residents of the area said that there are piles of garbage all over the area, which are causing the breeding of stray dogs. The citizens have blamed the incompetence of the Municipal Committee of Athmuqam for this situation.
The public has demanded that the administration pay immediate attention and save the public from the menace of stray dogs.
