Govt unveils major strategy to eliminate pollen allergy in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): On the directions of the Prime Minister, a roadmap for the eradication of pollen allergy was prepared under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Health, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Malik.

To eradicate pollen allergy from the federal capital, a joint action was taken by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Ministry of National Health on the directions of the Prime Minister.

During the joint action, more than 29,000 pollen allergy trees were removed from Islamabad.  Whereas a 3-phase scientific operation against pollen allergy trees, the paper mulberry, has been completed. Additionally, 29,115 pollen allergy paper mulberry trees were removed from the federal capi.tal.

Moreover, it has been decided to plant 3 new local trees in place of every uprooted tree. So far, more than 40,000 eco-friendly trees have been planted in the relevant areas.

Private sector and OGDC Tender for 18,000 more trees issued with the support of LK. Rehabilitation work is underway on 81 acres in Shakarparian, the project to be completed by April 2026

According to the latest data, a reduction has been observed in pollen allergy patients due to the initiative, 23% reduction in pollen vaccination cases in two years.
