MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The district administration has decided to clear Muzaffarabad city of encroachment.
A meeting of civil society representatives, traders, and journalists was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Munir Ahmed Qureshi.
In the meeting, civil society representatives presented practical suggestions through mutual consultation to solve the growing problems in Muzaffarabad city.
Trader representatives offered their cooperation to give an ideal look to Upper Adda Lal Chowk, shift the pushcart market, reclaim municipal corporation land and stops, and remove speed breakers from Upper Adda.

Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad directed the Assistant Commissioner Muzaffarabad to provide full cooperation to the concerned by visiting the site.
The issue of shortage of graveyards also came under discussion in the meeting, on which the Deputy Commissioner directed Assistant Commissioner that unnecessary fences, cemented slabs, etc., should not be placed around graves.
He said that a mechanism should be devised for collecting garbage. Citizens should be made aware not to dump garbage and waste anywhere other than the filth depot.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress made regarding the elimination of encroachments, restoration of faulty street lights, and establishment of a vegetable market and slaughterhouse.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration should be immediately approached for the implementation of the price list. An operation against encroachments is being launched in the next few days.
Steps will be taken to further improve the system of schools and hospitals. Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad vowed that they all can keep the city clean through joint efforts.
