ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Sri Lankan cricket team players, currently in Pakistan for a series, have requested to quit their ongoing tour and return home, citing security concerns.
Interior Minister and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi arrived at a private hotel in Islamabad to meet with Sri Lankan team players and assure them of foolproof security and convince them to continue the tour.
Earlier, Naqvi met Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner Rear Admiral (R) Priyantha Fernando and team, assuring them of security throughout their stay, the PCB said in a statement.

During the meeting, the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad and IG Islamabad Police gave a detailed briefing to the Sri Lankan envoy regarding the security provided to the Sri Lankan team.

On the other hand, sources said that the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has directed players to complete the Pakistan tour.
“Players who leave the tour incomplete will be banned for 2 years,” the Sri Lankan Board told players.
The second ODI of the three-match series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi tomorrow. The ODI series will be followed by a T20I tri-series with the Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe teams, which will also take place in Pakistan from November 17 to 29.
