MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Mirpur District Bar Association launched monsoon tree plantation drive at the district courts on Friday in coordination with a local NGO.
The Bar Association launched the tree plantation campaign in coordination with the Evergreen, a Mirpur NGO. Saplings of various trees were planted in front of the District Bar Association complex in Mirpur District Courts compound.
The drive was aimed to raise awareness among the masses including the legal fraternity, about the importance and usefulness of tree plantation and attract public towards tree plantation.
Chief guest District & Session Judge Chaudhry Fiyaz Ahmed, Mirpur SSP Khurram Iqbal, President District Bar Association Mirpur Chaudhry Mahmood Hussain Plakvi, Chairman Evergreen Raja Iftikhar Ahmed and number of DBA members participated in the tree plantation campaign.

In a brief chat on the occasion, District & Session Judge Ch. Fiyaz Ahmed, President Bar Advocate Chaudhry Mahmood Plakvi, SSP Khurram Iqbal, and others emphasized the importance of national tree plantation to prevent the negative impact of recent climate change the world over in general and in the region in particular.
They suggested gearing up the tree plantation drive to turn Mirpur into a green city through maximum participation of all segments of the civil society including legal fraternity.
“Only by doing so we could be successful in meeting the future global warming challenges and environmental pollution and making the public safe,” speakers stated.
“Everyone should enthusiastically join the campaign to make the city lush green and ensure the protection of plants,” they concluded.
