NEELUM: The Local Government Department of AJK on Thursday completed the project of installing solar street lights across five bazars of Neelum district.

Under the project, in the initial phase, more than 21 solar lights have been installed in bazars of Kel, Sharda, and Lawat Bala, due to which these areas will now remain illuminated even at night.

Regarding the project, former AJK government minister and MLA Pir Mazhar Saeed Shah said that the solar street lights project has been started for public convenience and promotion of tourism.

The installation of solar lights has been implemented keeping in mind the energy crisis and public convenience, which will benefit not only the local population and traders but also tourists, he said.

He said that in the future, solar lights are also planned to be installed in all commercial centers, parks, residential areas, and other tourist places of Neelum Valley.

Due to the solar system, lighting will remain in the markets despite power outages, which will improve the security situation, and business activities will also be possible till nightfall.

Citizens and traders have welcomed this initiative of Member of the Assembly Mazhar Saeed, he said, adding that this project has increased the charm of Neelum’s markets.
