MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): MB Food (Mani Brothers) snacks, and spices of Shameem Liaqat Foods & Beverages have been declared substandard and unfit for human consumption.
The Food Authority has seized the goods, imposed heavy fines on both companies, and ordered the destruction of existing stock in the market.
According to details, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority, in an effort to ensure the provision of safe and quality food to the public, took action by collecting samples of various products from Shameem Liaqat Foods and Beverages and MB Foods Company from the market and sent them for laboratory analysis.
Food items declared substandard
The laboratory report declared several products substandard.
The report found Mix Achari Snacks, Imli Pops, Moji Pops, Kya Taste Ha Yar Karariyan, Mani Pani Puri Snacks, Ringo Snacks substandard.
Upon this, the Food Authority took legal action against the companies, categorizing it as a Repeated Offence, imposed a fine of 5 lakh rupees, and seized the substandard goods.
Samples of the company’s manufactured Baba Garlic Powder, Baba Ginger Powder, Baba Custard Powder were also declared substandard in the laboratory report, upon which an additional fine of Rs1 lakh was imposed, and a strict warning was issued to the company.
According to the spokesperson of the Food Authority, the company has been instructed to immediately recall and destroy the substandard products present in the market.
The Food Authority has appealed to the public to consume only quality and certified food items and to report suspicious products to the concerned authorities.
