WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): The separatist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has called on US President Donald Trump administration to place India on the United States list of restricted-entry nations for allegedly Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government posing a “public safety and national security threat” to Americans.
In a letter sent to the White House, SFJ urged Trump to impose broad travel restrictions on Indian nationals sans what it described as “persecuted Sikhs.”
The group said such a move would mirror the Trump administration’s existing restrictions applied to 19 other nations.
Creation of Sikh homeland Khalistan
SFJ, which advocates for the creation of an independent Sikh homeland known as Khalistan, outlined four policy demands it says align with Trump’s “America First” agenda.
The organization accused Indian outsourcing firms of engaging in “widespread H-1B visa fraud,” claiming the practice harms U.S. technology workers.
It also alleged that Indian chemical exporters have been linked to fentanyl precursor trafficking cited in federal indictments.
The group further accused India’s intelligence agencies of involvement in “assassination plots and extremist activities abroad.”
The Sikh group asked that any restrictions exclude Sikh activists and asylum seekers, citing what it described as ongoing political and religious persecution of Sikhs under the Modi government.
The letter comes days after a violent incident in Washington, D.C., where two National Guard members were shot while on patrol —one fatally.
The accused gunman, an Afghan national who entered the US legally during the Biden administration and later received asylum under Trump’s renewed term, has pleaded not guilty to murder charges.
In response to increasing national security concerns, the US immigration authorities have announced to review and re-interview immigrants from restricted nations, looking as far back as 2021, as part of broader efforts to tighten scrutiny of legal immigration pathways.
