AJK authorities accept demands, SHO Imran Chaudhry to face legal action

MUZAFFARABAD (Kasmir English): Protesters in Azad Kashmir have further intensified their demands to sack and punish Station House Officer (SHO) Imran Chaudhry, who has been accused of harassing a British woman.

The Public Action Committee, civil society, and many political and social organizations have collaborated to condemn the incident and agitate for justice.

In the wake of videos of the incident that went viral on social media, the IG Azad Kashmir formed an inquiry committee, which was met with initial public protest.

A fresh investigation committee was constituted under the chairmanship of DIG Poonch, and SHO Imran Chaudhry was arrested after being summoned before the committee.

So far, the protesters have submitted demands to take immediate action against the SHO, Dismissal of the SHO: Imran Chaudhry should be dismissed from service under the Azad Kashmir Service Act of 1977.

Additionally, the public is demanding legal action against those government employees who aided this act. Appropriate legal recourse should take place against the state workers who protected this offense.

The district administration has accepted the demands of the protesters, while multi-organization protest pressure has been called off.

The Public Action Committee announced its appreciation for the government but insisted on a transparent legal action.
