NAPIER (Kashmir English): West Indies cricket team captain Shai Hope created history in international cricket by scoring a century against 13 different teams.

On Wednesday, the West Indies and hosts New Zealand faced each other in the second match of the 3-match ODI series in Napier.

West Indies captain Shai Hope scored a brilliant century and played an unbeaten innings of 109 runs.

Shai Hope became the first batsman in the world to score a century against all 11 other Test-playing nations and a total of 13 different teams in international cricket.

Shai Hope has also scored international centuries against all 11 full member teams and then against the Netherlands and Nepal.

In this list, he left behind Chris Gayle and Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene, who scored international centuries against 12 different teams.

Overall, this was Shai Hope’s 19th ODI century, with which he equaled West Indies legend Brian Lara’s record of 19 centuries.

Chris Gayle is the West Indies’ highest ODI century scorer with 25 centuries.
