KHARAN (Kashmir English): Security forces conducted a successful operation in Kharan city early this morning, eliminating suspected militants who were attempting to flee the area.
According to security sources, the action was carried out by the Alert Quick Response Unit after receiving information about the presence of armed suspects. As the forces moved in, the individuals reportedly tried to escape, prompting a targeted response.
During a subsequent search operation at the site, security personnel also recovered an improvised explosive device (IED), which was later defused by bomb disposal experts. Officials said the timely action helped prevent a possible act of sabotage.
Security has been heightened in and around Kharan following the operation, and further investigations are underway to determine the network and intentions of the suspects.
Authorities have reiterated their resolve to continue operations to maintain peace and stability in the region.
