BANNU (Kashmir English): The security forces conducted a major intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district, killing 22 terrorists belonging to ‘Fitna-ul-Khawarij’.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was carried out after receiving credible information about the presence of terrorists in the area. The ISPR said in a statement that the slain terrorists belonged to the Indian-backed proxy Fitna-ul-Khawarij.

The statement added that the security forces effectively targeted the terrorists’ hideouts, and a large-scale search and sanitization operation is underway in the area to eliminate any possible resistance or threat of regroupment.

The ISPR said that during the operation, weapons, ammunition and other war material were recovered from the possession of the terrorists, whose aim was to create instability in the country.

Additional forces have been deployed in Bannu and adjoining areas, and the local population is being kept informed of the situation.

The spokesperson said that the operation will continue until the complete elimination of the foreign-backed Khawarij terrorists. Security forces are conducting a thorough review of the routes, safe havens, and possible hiding places in the area to eliminate any threat of re-emergence of the terrorists.

The ISPR reiterated its resolve that anti-terrorism operations will continue with the same determination and pace, and no space will be given to anti-national elements.
