RIYADH (Kashmir English): Saudi Arabia and Qatar have expressed deep concern over the tension that has arisen following unprovoked firing by Afghanistan on the Pak-Afghan border.

A statement issued by the Saudi Foreign Ministry said that Saudi Arabia is deeply concerned about the recent clashes and tensions in the border areas between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The statement further said that both countries should avoid escalating tensions and exercise dialogue, wisdom, and restraint, so that peace and stability can be maintained in the region.

The Saudi government also made it clear on this occasion that it will continue to support all regional and international efforts that promote peace, stability, and prosperity, especially for a better future for the Pakistani and Afghan people.

Qatar Statement

Qatar has expressed concern over the tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

A statement issued by the Qatari Foreign Ministry said that the two countries should resolve issues through patience, dialogue, and diplomacy.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry says that reducing tensions is essential for peace and stability in the region, and that tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan can have a negative impact on regional peace.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry has said that it is committed to the peace and prosperity of the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Pakistan Army’s vigorous response

It should be noted that last night, Afghan forces opened unprovoked firing at various border points, including Angor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Chitral and Baram Chah (Balochistan).

According to security sources, the Pakistan Army responded promptly and effectively, targeting several Afghan posts, as a result of which dozens of Afghan soldiers and foreigners were killed, while the Taliban fled after abandoning the check posts.

Sources say that the Afghan forces’ operation aimed to force the Khawarij terrorists to cross the border, but the Pakistan Army’s vigilant surveillance and prompt response thwarted the enemy’s plan.

This tension has come to light when the Afghan Foreign Minister is on a visit to India.

Pakistan has also expressed serious reservations over the joint statement between India and Afghanistan.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the Afghan ambassador was summoned and told that declaring Jammu and Kashmir a part of India is a violation of United Nations resolutions and international law.

Pakistan said that this move is a grave indifference to the sacrifices of the people of Kashmir and their just struggle for their right to self-determination.
