MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan met President AJK Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi and discussed matters of mutual interest, including the political situation in the region.
Sardar Attique congratulated Dr Najeeb on assuming the office of State President and expressed his best wishes for his tenure.
During the meeting, President Najeeb said political tolerance in Azad Jammu and Kashmir was the result of democratic continuity.
He called for a unified strategy among political parties, leaders and opinion-makers to highlight the Kashmir issue and draw international attention to human rights concerns in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
The AJK president also stressed the importance of maintaining focus on the Kashmir freedom movement and the longstanding demand for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
He appreciated Pakistan’s political, moral and diplomatic support for Kashmiris and said the Pakistan Army provides security to people living along the Line of Control and in other parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan also emphasized the need for joint efforts to effectively highlight the Kashmir issue and assured the State President of his full support.
