MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Former Prime Minister and President of PTI Azad Kashmir, Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, and Opposition Leader in AJK Assembly Khawaja Farooq Ahmed on Monday held an important consultative meeting to discuss the current political situation, party affairs, and preparations for the upcoming elections.
According to party sources, the two leaders held a detailed discussion on the release of Imran Khan, the overall political and organizational matters of PTI in Azad Kashmir, and the situation emerging after the recent developments in Pakistan.
Both leaders expressed serious concern over the Punjab government’s use of force on participants of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik march, terming the firing and violence against protesters as “state terrorism.”
They reiterated their resolve to continue a vigorous struggle for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, describing his freedom as vital for Pakistan’s political stability and diplomatic standing.
During the meeting, they also congratulated Sohail Afridi on his election as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, terming it a victory of the people and democracy.
The two leaders agreed that PTI remains the most popular political party in Azad Kashmir and expressed full confidence in securing victory in the upcoming general elections.
They emphasized the need for full political and public mobilization for the election campaign and demanded the immediate appointment of a Chief Election Commissioner to ensure fair and transparent elections in the state.
