Rawalakot police register case against Ghulam Mujtaba for hate speech

RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): In response to inflammatory speeches made against the government and state institutions, a case has been registered against Sajjad Afzal and Raja Ghulam Mujtaba in Rawalakot.

The accused had made hateful statements while addressing a function of the Awami Action Committee, prompting legal action.

According to the FIR registered at Rawalakot Police Station, the accused violated sections 124A and 153A, which pertain to inciting hatred against the state, inciting rebellion, and disturbing peace and order.

The FIR stated that the accused’s speech on March 25, 2025, was laced with venom against state institutions, aiming to incite the public and compromise national integrity.

The accused are also alleged to have made illegal demands on state resources and unconstitutional statements against the government, which can be seen as a hate campaign against national security institutions.

Law enforcement agencies have made it clear that anti-national elements will not be tolerated, and strict legal action will be taken against such individuals.

The police took immediate action and registered a case under the charges of baseless allegations against state institutions.

The office of District Magistrate Bagh Raja Muhammad Sadaqat Khan said that Mujtaba made hateful and provocative remarks.

“The accused incited the peaceful people to unnecessary violence and unrest, for which a case has been registered against him under the Code of Conduct and action is underway,” the district official said.

“Sadaqat Khan clarified that Mujtaba insulted the martyrs of the Kashmir region.”

In addition, they made illegal demands on state resources and made unconstitutional statements against the government, which can be described as a hate campaign against national security institutions, he added.
