MUZAFFARABAD/ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A rare wild goat rescued from Forward Kahuta fell victim to the negligence of the Wildlife Department.
The animal died due to lack of proper food at Patika Zoo. According to details, in September 2025, Bakarwals rescued a rare wild goat (Rai) kid from Bakarwals and transferred it to Patika Zoo, where it became a victim of wildlife negligence.
According to sources, an unhygienic environment, poor management, lack of trained staff, insufficient medical supervision, and inadequate food supply at Patika Zoo led to the death of this rare wild animal.
Wild goat neither had a natural environment
They said the rare wild goat neither had a natural environment nor was there any effective arrangement for its care according to its age and needs.
Citizens have demanded a transparent investigation into the death of the rare animal and action against those responsible.
Citizens say that quality care, medical facilities, and professional arrangements should be immediately ensured in all wildlife centers, including Patika Zoo, to prevent such incidents in the future.
It should be noted that this is not the first incident; previously, many birds and wild animals died at Patika Zoo and other places due to the mismanagement and negligence of the Wildlife Department, but neither have those responsible been identified nor have corrective measures been taken.
Wildlife in Azad Kashmir is endangered due to deforestation, fires, and climate change.
