MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): At least one person has been killed and five others injured in rain-related incidents across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) since July 1, 2025, the AJK’s State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) said in a latest report.

According to the SDMA list, “1 person died, 5 were injured, including 2 children, 40 houses were destroyed due to the rains, out of which 37 were partially destroyed and 3 were completely destroyed.”

The authroity further said that 3 cattle heads also preshied in rains, while 6 shops were also destroyed, all in Jhelum Valley. In addition to that, a motorcycle, 3 vehicles, a windmill (Gharat) and about 1.5 km of road were also destroyed in Jhelum Valley district.

“Water flow in all rivers of AJK is normal and no flood situation has been reported,” SDMA said.

The authority also predicted that rain-wind/thundershower with heavy rain will fall at isolated places in Azad Kashmir in the next 24 hours.

Earlier today, the country’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) confirmed that at least 87 people have been killed and 149 others injured in rain-related incidents across Pakistan since June 26. The deceased include 42 children, 29 men, and 16 women.

The NDMA reported that Punjab reported 29 deaths, including 15 children, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 30 deaths, 14 of them children. Sindh reported 16 deaths, eight of them children, and 1,1, including five children, lost their lives in Balochistan, it said.

Heavy rains have also damaged at least 242 houses nationwide, including 71 that were completely destroyed and 171 that were partially damaged.
