ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday predicted rain, wind, and thunderstorms with snowfall over mountainous areas in northern areas, including Azad Kashmir.
As per the Met Office weather advisory, rain and snowfall are expected in the upper parts of the country on November 4, while temperatures are likely to drop significantly in the upper parts of the country in the next few days.
“A westerly wave is likely to approach the upper parts of the country on the night of November 3 and may persist till November 5,” it added.
Under the influence of this westerly wave, rain and thunderstorms with snowfall over the mountains are expected in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur from November 04 to 05.
The widespread weather activity will also affect Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dir Upper and Lower, Chitral Upper and Lower, Swat, Kohistan, Kolai Pallas, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Torghar, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Swabi, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Kurram, Orakzai, Hangu, Kohat, and Galliyat.
Gilgit-Baltistan districts, including Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghanche, and Shigar, are also expected to receive rain and snowfall.
“Rain-windstorm/thunderstorm is also expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Sargodha, Khushab, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore on 04th November,” it added.
An isolated hailstorm is also expected during the period, the Met Office said.
The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecasted dry and cold conditions across most parts of Pakistan from November 3 to 8.
The PMD further warned that day temperatures are likely to drop significantly during the wet spell & night temperatures thereafter. “Foggy and smoggy conditions are expected to subdue during the wet spell and redevelop afterwards.”
Travelers and tourists have been advised to schedule their trips, particularly in hilly areas, keeping in view the weather forecast.
