KARACHI (Kashmir English): All public and private educational institutions in Karachi will remain closed today (Wednesday, September 10), following forecasts of heavy monsoon rains and severe weather conditions.
The decision was made in the light of a weather advisory from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), warning of widespread rain, strong winds, and thundershowers in the region.
An official notification issued by the Karachi Commissioner on Tuesday confirmed that today will be a holiday in the Karachi educational institutions.
Meanwhile, the All-Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association has announced that all private schools and colleges in Karachi would remain closed on September 10.
The decision has been taken in view of potential heavy rains in the city. The All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association Chairman, Haider Ali, stated that private educational institutions in Karachi will remain closed on Wednesday.
He also cited stagnant water on the roads after the rains as one of the reasons of closing the educational institutions adding school vans even will not be able to transport children. It is worth noting that the city received light to heavy rains since Tuesday morning.
Govt schools also closed
Earlier, Acting Commissioner Karachi Tariq Chandio stated that no decision had been made regarding school holiday in Karachi.
In a conversation with media, he said that if there is any rain spell, a decision will be made regarding holidays in educational institutions.
