ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made it mandatory for all SIMs to be registered in the user’s own name.

The PTA statement said that using a SIM registered in someone else’s name is a violation of the law, and the registered user will be fully responsible for any misuse of the SIM.

According to the PTA, users will be responsible for the use of their SIMs and telecom connections. It is also mandatory to comply with the regulations on the use of calls, messages, and data, and legal action can be taken in case of violation.

The PTA says that users should play an effective role in protecting and stabilizing the communication system through responsible behavior.

Earlier, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had instructed users to be careful to protect against WhatsApp hacking and cyber fraud.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has warned WhatsApp users that people are trapped in its clutches through social engineering.

“Never share your personal information and the OTP code that comes on your mobile with anyone. After obtaining personal information through various methods, they are used for financial fraud, the authority warned.

The PTA said that OTP is obtained by posing as a courier service representative for WhatsApp hacking.

“Fraud is also done through fake calls of a relative being in police custody.

Users should not transfer money to anyone without verification to avoid financial fraud.”
