KARACHI (Kashmir English): Citizens intending to buy motorcycles will have to encounter yet another waev of inflation, as the prices of bikes in Pakistan are expected to go up following the increase in petrol prices and other expenses involved in manufacturing them.
According to the statements made by United Auto Industries, there has been an increase in the prices of bikes in Pakistan of some motorcycles due to inflationary pressures and the high cost of materials. In addition, the firm mentioned that its efforts to stabilize the prices as much as possible had become increasingly hard considering the economic environment.
The increase in prices is expected to be about Rs. 3,000 for 70cc and 100cc motorcycles, while 125cc motorcycles have experienced a price increase of more than Rs. 5,000. It should be noted that the new prices are expected to start being effective starting April 11, 2026.
According to industry analysts, these price hikes are mainly attributed to the effects of increasing fuel prices, costly imports, weakening of the currency value, and general inflation in the production of vehicles. Bicycles, which are seen as the cheapest means of transportation among the middle class and low-income groups, are slowly getting out of reach due to this price hike.
This latest price rise comes at a time when people are already experiencing high cost of living, such as high fuel prices. It is believed that there will be a decrease in motorcycle sales for the time being as some people might choose to buy second-hand motorcycles.
Further price adjustments in the automobile industry will definitely follow should the trend of inflation persist.
