ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The 21st Senate meeting of Women’s University Bagh Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) was held at Kashmir House, Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, President of AJK and Chancellor of AJK Universities.

The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor of Women’s University Bagh, Professor Dr Abdul Hameed, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Poonch Rawalakot, Dr Rasool Jan, Vice Chancellor of Mirpur University of Science and Technology, Brigadier (Retd) Dr Muhammad Younis Javed, Higher Education Commission (HEC) representative Professor Dr Anwar-ul-Hassan Gilani, former Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Women’s University Rawalpindi, Professor Dr Saima Hameed, current Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Women’s University Rawalpindi, Professor Dr Bushra Mirza, Secretary Presidential Affairs Dr Muhammad Idrees Abbasi, Secretary Higher Education Chaudhry Muhammad Tayyab, former Vice Chancellor of AJK University, Professor Dr Khawaja Farooq, and other Senate members.

During the meeting, Vice Chancellor Dr Abdul Hameed gave a detailed briefing on the ongoing development projects at Women’s University Bagh. He informed the Senate about the progress of various initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and academic facilities.

President AJK and Chancellor Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry directed the university administration to accelerate the completion of these projects. He emphasised the need to ensure timely execution so that students and faculty can benefit from enhanced academic resources.

A key decision made during the Senate meeting was the formation of a search committee for appointing the next Vice Chancellor of Women’s University Bagh. The outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Abdul Hameed, was commended for his contributions to the university and his efforts in promoting education during his tenure.

President AJK also acknowledged the financial challenges faced by Women’s University Bagh compared to other universities. He stressed the need for special financial grants from the Higher Education Commission and the Government of AJK to support the institution. He urged relevant authorities to take steps in this regard to strengthen the university’s financial position.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to improving the university’s academic and administrative framework while ensuring that all development projects are completed efficiently.
