MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President addressed overseas Kashmiris in Birmingham, condemning India’s repression in Kashmir, urging the United Nations (UN) to grant Kashmir’s right to self-determination, and highlighting government initiatives to improve services and infrastructure in AJK.

Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry who serves as President of AJK declared that India lacks the military power to end the freedom struggle of Kashmiris. At a Birmingham conference talking about Kashmiri migrants, Chaudhry expressed strong criticism of India’s repeated oppression in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) territory because India’s use of every violent measure combined with state terror has failed to silence the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

The overseas Kashmiris according to Chaudhry needed the international community to execute their responsibilities so the UN must recognize Kashmiris’ right to determine their future. According to him the pressing situation in occupied Kashmir demands overseas Kashmiris to actively participate in stopping Indian forces from committing violence against Kashmiri civilians.

The AJK President denounced Indian claims about being a large democratic and secular nation by showing how they commit violent practices in Kashmir. The president stressed that India operates as a place of suffering for Muslims and Sikhs as well as Christians and those designated as untouchables. According to him the correct decision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to establish Pakistan through the two-nation theory had been validated by these conditions.

According to Chaudhry the Hindutva philosophical foundation followed by Indian Prime Minister Modi threatened both religious minorities in the Indian territory and residents of occupied Kashmir. He expressed worry about how Indian society was becoming more exclusive and hateful since this situation could potentially destroy India as a unified nation.

Chaudhry also talked about development in AJK and explained the AJK coalition government had dedicated itself to enhancing public services within health and education. The free medical care system through health cards will be launched shortly alongside the upcoming education package distribution. The President reported that construction had started on the Rathua Haryam Bridge and the Mangla Dam Housing Authority received approval for its development projects.

During his visit, the President showed his appreciation to the Pakistani community abroad for extending their friendly reception to him.
