MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Preparations are underway for the three-day annual Jashan-e-Mirpur festival with enhanced public participation in the focus.
A high-level meeting was held here under the chairmanship of Commissioner Mirpur Division Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan and DIG Police Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chauhan regarding the three-day annual Jashan-e-Mirpur festival. Every year in April, the festival is organised to provide the public with recreational facilities.
In the meeting, it was decided that the festival will be celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur on the banks of Mangla Lake so that people could be provided with healthy recreational facilities. No government resources will be used in this regard.
Jashan Mirpur will feature Hamd and Naat, Sufi Night with Kalam Hazrat Mian Muhammad Bakhsh and Qawwali, local music, tent pegging, horse riding, various sports activities, regional handicrafts, Kashmiri cuisine, Meena Bazaar, handicraft, food street, and many other programs for the entertainment of children and women.
This Jashan-e-Mirpur festival will not only highlight local culture and traditions but also promote local sports.
Promotion of commercial activities in Mirpur
This will also promote commercial and industrial activities in Mirpur. The management committee will decide the final date for the participation of overseas Pakistanis in the festival.
Chairman District Council Raja Naveed Akhtar Goga, Additional Commissioner Raja Qaiser Aurangzeb Khan, Deputy Commissioner Raja Muhammad Sadaqat Khan, SSP Khurram Iqbal, President Chamber of Commerce and Industries Umar Shehzad Jaral, Acting President Bar Shaukat Ali Mughal Advocate, Secretary General Bar Zahid Hussain Advocate, Secretary Finance Muhammad Yusuf Advocate, Chief Officer Municipality Raja Shiraz Ahmed Khan, DSP Shehzad Sarwar, Additional Registrar Taimoor Akbar, District Information Officer Muhammad Javed Malik attended the meeting.
