ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will commemorate Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s 46th death anniversary along with former prime minister today through national remembering events.
Nationwide events such as gatherings, rallies and seminars will occur across Pakistan from Islamabad to Lahore to Karachi to mark his legacy and maintain his democratic vision. A day before his statement, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari named Bhutto as “a leader who resurrected a broken nation from the ashes of despair.”
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari praised his grandfather for leading Pakistan to stability following the 1971 war as well as freeing 90,000 prisoners of war and reclaiming 5,000 square miles under the Simla Agreement while introducing economic, industrial and labour reforms.
He stated that “Shaheed Bhutto did not die; he was martyred”, which keeps martyrs alive through the ongoing battle of their people.
The killing of Bhutto marked “a dark chapter in Pakistan’s history”, Senator Sherry Rehman of the PPP described, calling it both “a dark chapter in Pakistan’s history” and “a sinister conspiracy against democracy.”
She used the Supreme Court decision from 2024 to confirm that Bhutto faced a faulty court process at his 1979 trial because it failed to respect his rights. History has affirmed its belief that Shaheed Bhutto received judicial murder according to the verdict delivered by the Supreme Court of Pakistan last year, she explained.
Sherry Rehman highlighted Bhutto’s achievement of creating Pakistan’s first consensus constitution while leading the nuclear program development and improving international recognition of the country.
Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari as PPP Secretary General declared on April 4, 1979 that democracy came under attack and affirmed Bhutto’s ideas motivate thousands. He said the vision of Bhutto survives in Pakistan’s political environment as the attempts to silence him have become obsolete.
The party leadership issued statements on Wednesday as PPP supporters, workers, and leaders organised national meetings today to analyze Bhutto’s accomplishments while analyzing modern threats to democratic practices.
The 46th death anniversary of former Prime Minister and founder of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, will be observed at Jinnah Park in Islamabad on April 4th. Kamran Hussian Raja, President of the PPP City Chapter, indicated that Quran Khawani will take place at 3PM, followed by ‘Dua’ at 4PM.
The local leadership will attend the celebration and emphasise the achievements of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who fought for democracy and gave his life to the people of Pakistan. Later, Bhutto Lungar would be distributed during the event.
The organization maintains its commitment to maintaining its fundamental principles while fighting for the continued defence of these principles.
