KARACHI (Kashmir English): The Central Executive Committee of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) once again demanded the federal government to utilize the Benazir Income Support Program for the assistance of flood victims and gave one month to address their concerns.

Meeting of the Central Executive Council (CEC) of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party was held in Karachi which was attended by representatives from all four provinces.

Various issues were discussed in the meeting, including alliance with the government, rehabilitation of flood victims in Punjab, and Afghanistan’s infiltration.

Bilawal Bhutto also briefed the participants on his meeting with the Prime Minister, which everyone expressed satisfaction with.

After the meeting, Sherry Rehman, along with Sharjeel Memon and Nadeem Afzal Chan, held a joint press conference and said that the Central Executive Committee of the Peoples Party has decided that the federal government of N-League will address the concerns of the Peoples Party within one month.

“If our demands and concerns are not resolved, then after this period, a meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the Peoples Party will be held again, and important political decisions will be made.”

She said that the Peoples Party will play an important political role for the improvement of the political situation in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while the Peoples Party is not joining the federal cabinet.

Sherry Rehman said that the federal government should take immediate steps for the rehabilitation of flood victims and fix the support price for wheat.

Flood victims should be immediately assisted through the Benazir Income Support Program.

She informed that the CEC of the Peoples Party condemned the incidents of terrorism and said that Modi is using Afghanistan for his ambitions.

“Whether it is Afghanistan, India, or any country, or Khawarij, if they attack our army and people, they will be given a befitting reply.”

The leaders said that the Peoples Party and the entire nation pay tribute to the armed forces and security agencies for their sacrifices in eliminating terrorism and defending the country and stand with the armed forces.

PPP to continue strengthening democracy

PPP leaders said that the PPP will continue to play its role for strengthening of democracy and parliament in the country.

The Peoples Party will resolve all matters through dialogue, and there will be no controversial statements against each other from both sides. However, the Peoples Party will raise its voice for the issues faced with the people.

Sherry Rehman said that October 18 is of great importance to them. “On October 18, 2007, there was a surging sea of people, which was cowardly attacked. We will never forget the debt of the martyrs.”

Senator Sherry Rehman said that this was the biggest attack on any political party. She said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are currently facing security issues.

The CEC unanimously condemned terrorism. “We stand shoulder to shoulder with our armed forces, and President Zardari personally visits the families of the martyrs.”
