Poonch administration reviews steps to ensure public safety on Eid

RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): The local administration has started taking measures to ensure law and order and public safety as the joyous festival of Eid is fast approaching.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch Sardar Umar Farooq chaired a meeting of officers of all relevant departments here Wednesday to maintain law and order during the final days of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. The meeting is part of the government efforts to provide facilities to the public and respond immediately to any public concerning issue.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Poonch Khurram Iqbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rawalakot Usman Mumtaz Butt, and officials from Public Health, Highways, Forests, Electricity, Tourism, Rescue, Information, Municipal Corporation, Traffic Police and other departments.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Poonch said that due to increased movement of people during the last days of Ramadan and on Eid-ul-Fitr, various problems arise which can be addressed with a coordinated effort and combined strategy.

He said that the departments should work more diligently during these days so that people could be facilitated.

Outsider also visit Kashmir during Eid days

On the occasion of Eid, where people living outside Azad Kashmir come to their ancestral homes, tourists also visit Poonch in large number to see the beauty of the district.

Superintendent of Police, Poonch Khurram Iqbal briefed the meeting about the security plan. He said that during the last few days, some activities have taken place in Poonch region which definitely posed a threat to law and order, on which the police has further tightened security so that the lives and property of the people are safe.

A traffic plan has also been prepared for the important commercial centres of Rawalakot, Nala Bazaar, for the next few days, where traffic entry from Nala Bazaar to Munir Chowk will be prohibited to avoid inconvenience.
